We found fish feeding and looked like they were eating black caddis pupa but could not catch a fish. We put on a #20 pseudo emerger under a pinch-on indicator with a small amount of weight and hammered them. We also landed a few on a Dave's hopper.

The Day of Fishing Report Based On:
June 01, 2009
Weather Conditions:
blustery and raining later

Spawning beds are all the way down to 13 with a few below that. Just the upper 3 will not protect them enough. Browns also spawn in the fall all over the upper 13 so another closure from mid October to mid January would be warranted.

Report for May 31, 2009

The Day of Fishing Report Based On:
May 31, 2009
Weather Conditions:
sunny, hot and partly cloudy.
Water Temperature:
44
Water Flow:
4700est
Stretch of River Fished:
13 to mallard
Water Clarity:
good
General Fishing Report:
Good.
Effective Patterns:
San Juans
Comments:
To those posting against spawning bed fishiing? If you want to protect the beds then the Big horn river needs to be closed during the rainbow spawn. At least close the upper 13 between May 1st and June 15th and that will make sure no-one hooks a fish that might possibly be spawning.
